Winter Storm Warning!

The Litchfield Public Works Department will be out plowing and salting in anticipation of this Sunday's snowstorm. Please drive safely and minimize road travel if possible. We have posted here two important reminders:

TOWN PARKING ORDINANCE

Parking of motor vehicles on Town roads from the 1st of November through the 30th of April is prohibited between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Motor vehicles obstructing the clearing of snow will be towed away at the owner's expense. Whenever a vehicle is parked on roadways or streets overnight, it shall be considered an obstruction. It shall be tagged with a warning parking ordinance slip and called into the Dispatcher for logging and towing. This warning will be posted on the Town of Litchfield official website.

MAIL BOXES

During the winter snow plowing season, resident's mailboxes occasionally get damaged by plowed snow or by snow plowing equipment. Resident's frequently call to request that the Town replace the mailbox and post. As of November 2012, the Town's current replacement policy is as follows: Mailboxes damaged by snow will NOT be repaired or replaced. Mailboxes determined to be damaged by Town equipment will only be repaired or replaced if reported within 24 hours after the end of the storm and if installed in accordance with U.S. Post Service regulations. The maximum total amount that the Town will spend for mailbox replacement is $40. This amount includes the cost of the mailbox and the post.
