The Litchfield board of fire commissioners and emergency medical services was established in accordance with Section 7-301, of the Connecticut General statutes for the protection of persons and property within its limits from fire or medical emergency. The board of fire commissioners and emergency medical services consists of six members, one from each fire company, Litchfield Ambulance and a member of the Board of Selectmen. These members are appointed by the Board of Selectmen for a period of 1 year.
The board of fire commissioners and emergency medical services provides for the fire protection and emergency medical services through the Bantam, East Litchfield, Litchfield and Northfield Fire Companies as well as Litchfield Ambulance.
The board of fire commissioners and emergency medical services meets on the third Thursday of every month at the Town Hall Annex located at 80 Doyle Road in Bantam. These meeting begin at 7:00 PM
