DOG LICENSES (Sec. 22-338 thru 22-352):
Every dog except those kept under a Kennel License must be licensed when it becomes 6 months old and then annually in June. Those who’ve become new owners of a dog must license that dog within 30 days. Town Clerks issue licenses for dogs within their own town.
In Litchfield we mail post card reminders to dog owners in May. Licensing may be done through the mail by filling out the information on the postcard and sending it back with payment and copies of proper paperwork. A Valid Rabies Vaccination Certificate must be submitted to the Town Clerk when licensing your dog. A Veterinary’s Certificate must be presented before a license can be issued for new Neutered or Spayed dogs.
