Tax bills for Grand List 2007, fiscal year 2008/2009, will be mailed the last week of June, 2008. The tax bills include the July and January payment stubs. There will be no reminders sent for the January installment.Tuesday, June 17, 2008 Estate and Personal Property taxes of $100.00 or more are due in two installments. Tax bills under that amount are due in full in July.
Motor vehicle bills are always due in one installment in July.
The first installment is due July 1, 2008 and is late if paid after August 1, 2008.
The second installment is due January 1, 2008 and is late if paid after February 2, 2008.
If a payment is postmarked on August 1, 2008 or February 2, 2009 it is considered ontime and no interest will be charged.
Interest is charged at the rate of one and one half percent per month starting at the due date of each installment, July 1 and January 1. If a payment is made on August 2, 2008, it will be subject to an interest charge of 3%. This is according to CGS 12-146.
