Dear Litchfield Resident,

Homeland security is something we should all take very seriously. Federal, state and local officials are doing everything possible to ensure your safety. However the real "eyes and ears" that can help law enforcement do an even better job belong to each and every resident.

Do not be afraid to contact the police and report suspicious activity. If something "just does not seem right”, don't be afraid to bring it to the attention of our police officials. This is not a call to panic, but just a calm way of saying, be alert and use common sense. I have listed links to various web pages that provide useful information and can help you and your family be prepared. I encourage you to visit these websites and keep yourself and your loved ones informed at all times. Having a plan and knowing how you will react in an emergency is half the battle.

Please feel free to call upon your town officials at any time if you have any questions. We are here to serve you. Together we can and we will keep our community safe.

Like people everywhere we hope for a speedy resolution of the current conflict and the safe return home of our military personnel.

Respectfully,
Thomas O’Hare
Emergency Management Director
